For 57 machine categories for usage outdoors, in the European area specific rules apply concerning the noise emissions.

Procedure of conformity assessment

Agricultural machinery and construction machinery must also meet the emission limits for pollutants. When new emission limit comes into force, some machines under the previous standard may still be marketed if they have the requisite permission (= the flexibility scheme).
